President's Greeting

The name "BM Nagano" often catches people's attention as something quite unique.
In fact, it's become customary for people meeting me for the first time to ask,
"Where does the name come from?" as we part ways.
"BM" stands for the initials of our founder, my father, Bunichi Murakami.
"Nagano" was suggested by the late Chairman Kelvin of our former business partner, the UK-based KELVIN IMPEX Ltd.
At the time of our founding, we received tremendous support from the people of Nagano and Gunma Prefectures, which were central hubs for electronic component manufacturing.
In gratitude, the region’s name was adopted into the company name.
My father always told me that the name reflected two key intentions:
“To take full responsibility for the company,” and
“To never forget the gratitude we owe from the founding days.”
To me, the company name represents the conviction and principles of our founder.
The Murakami family comes from a long line of Buddhist temple priests, and my grandfather served as a temple head throughout his life.
I was raised in Shonan, Kanagawa, and after graduating from university, I joined a foreign electronics manufacturer.
Twenty-nine years ago, I entered BM Nagano under the leadership of my father.
I first worked at our domestic offices, and I still fondly remember the early days, sharing hard work with just a handful of colleagues.
After that, I spent over 10 years in international operations at our subsidiaries in Singapore and Malaysia.
In this fast-changing world—both in Japan and globally—we sometimes encounter unexpected connections, or go-en.
These connections may be moments when we reconcile our ideals and reality, and embrace the fate that comes with them.
Or they may appear as fortunate encounters that seem almost coincidental.
But no matter the form, unless we treasure these connections, nothing truly begins.
By valuing each relationship, new encounters are born.
Eventually, these many ties come full circle—into a great, harmonious "en" (circle).
This is what I truly believe.
En (fate), en (support), en (performance), en (celebration), en (garden).
And finally, the all-embracing, circular en—the bond that ties us all.
At BM Nagano, we cherish every connection we are given, across Japan and the world.
As we look toward the next ten years, and even the next fifty, we will continue striving to be a company that contributes—however humbly—to society.
